Meh! (Part 2)

I guess the one thing we have is Grace, two things actually, grace and love, but lets talk about grace.

First of all, grace isn't a free-pass card to do whatever you want. The only way to experience grace is to take it as an extension of God's love. If somebody loves on you, you don't throw it back in their face, right?

Jude 1:4 talks about ungodly men who've slipped in among God's people, who use grace as a license for evil. He warns the people that if they follow in those steps, they'll be part of the condemnation that's set for them.

1 Peter 5:10 talks about how the purpose of Grace is to restore, confirm, strengthen and establish.

(1Pet 5:10 [NET])
And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Restoring us as His beloved, confirming our place in His heart, strengthening us so we want fall again, establishing us on higher heights.

But, in order to get these, we need to get Jude 1:5 first, we cant use grace as a free-pass. That's not love and we wont be restored, confirmed, strengthened or established if we keep working our way back. It'll be going round in circles, and most importantly, it's not really giving God any glory.

One thing I learnt this week, is that, "The glory of God is at stake." In how I live my life, walk, talk, dress, act, being a friend, a daughter, a sister, in all these things, the glory of God is at stake. As a Christian, I reflect the glory of God. So far, I've not being doing a really good job. I need to constantly check myself, are the actions I do now going to hurt me tomorrow. Is wasting time at work now, going to give me stress tomorrow as I catch up. Its not just a "Christian" thing, its a life thing.

God doesn't want us wallowing in whatever muck we wallow in as a result of going our own way, He doesn't enjoy our "meh!" days just as much as we don't enjoy them. That's the practical reason grace exists, so our lives can be better.

Restore. Confirm. Strengthen. Establish.

Meh! (Part 1)

There are some days when I'm so passionately crazy in love with Jesus. I think about the hope, the glory, hanging out with Him in heaven, the fact that an all-powerful God has my back now. My heart just races and fills up with adoration, and I have to be careful at those times to keep my mind on God, so that if a random thought like "cheeseburgers" comes to my head, my heart doesn't follow and misdirect the love and adoration to "cheeseburgers"

(And, no, I don't normally get random thoughts on cheeseburgers, although now that I think about it, I think its been almost a year since my last cheeseburger!)

These are the days I can be watching TV and God says to  me "Come and sing this song for me" and I'd turn off the TV, turn on my music and sing and it's awesome. These are the days when the power's out and instead of complaining, I end up writing 7 new songs. My FIRE days.

Then there are days like yesterday when I'm just like "meh!" I know God loves me, I know I'm a Christian, but I really don't feel like doing much of anything. These days usually follow an event where I feel God say to me something, like, "Don't miss that class!" and I miss it anyway. He leads me and I go off in another way. These are the days when my flesh takes over, and these days SUCK. Yet I still do go off on my own way!

Then there are the days that follow the "meh!" days, when I wake up empty and down, fighting off my old frienemy depression with everything I've got. I find issues in the things that shouldn't be issues. I find reasons to get down on myself, "my hair looks horrible", "my dreams aren't coming true", "I'm still in trouble with school", "did I really pledge I'm going to stay single the entire year?"

That pledge is the one that gives me the most trouble; especially because chances are its not even going to be a year. I wont deny that pledge has probably been the best thing to happen to me for the last 3 years. This break from the rat race has given me a lot of clarity and closeness with God, which is what it was intended for. However, with the clarity came the call to purpose, with the whole wanting to join Ministry. The call came with the probability of the pledge going even longer than a year, because after I'm done with college, I want to go to Ministry School/Internship and in most internships I've been reading on, they don't allow dating, for good reason.

During these days, I wonder if everything really is going to work out. How do I jump into this thing, trust in God, if I can't even go to class when He tells me to go to class. Sometimes I feel like temptation is always at my door, watching and waiting. Old habits, ex-boyfriends, keggers, raves, my past mocking me...

How do I peg my whole life on God, when I cant trust myself?

Be sure to check  out part 2 tomorrow.

Outfit Of The Day

This is me trying out pink lipstick and pink blush...

This is me going full siren red lips!

This was actually a few days ago. My simple/office/innocent-cutie/comfortable look :-) The black vest underneath the white shirt just gave it a little bit more layering slimming effect. I liked it.

Make-up was just Luron Compact and Pink blush. Experimented with pink and red lipstick. The pink is more me and what I went with.

Walk In The Promise by Jeremy Riddle

Man, I love this song! Jeremy Riddle has an amazing voice, incredible control. Plus the music, how it starts is just amazing. I got chills listening to the words, just spoke to me. I'm sure you guys will love it as much as I do!

What's Been Happenning

Hey guys I know I havent posted for like a week, but it's been kinda tricky since I've been right in the middle of exams. But here's what's been happening

  • I've been working on a couple of messages that I'll get out here in the next few days
  • I just finished a proposal to start a Campus Ministry for my school and I'm sending it out to the relevant "authorities" as we speak. I don't know if anything will come out of it right now, but it was good training ground, and it'll be a good pilot program to learn from as Bent Reeds Ministries about planting outreaches.
  • Came across an amazing speaker Brandon Lee, who goes by Whizpopping on YouTube. Here's a video of Brandon speaking about how we are a new creation once we accept Jesus into our lives. He talks about how we shouldn't condemn ourselves and quit the race just because we still sin after getting saved. He talks of how sin has become a habit/muscle memory and we just need to renew our minds and how to break old habits of sin. I loved it, I'm sure you will to.

Worship - Jesus Culture

Right now I'm so into worship. I feel like I've tapped into that new life that's all the rage in Christianity :-)
Definitely gotten a lot of inspiration. I've grown closer to God just through these songs. I've written some songs of my own...or at least I'm trying to. That ooooold dream of writing and singing is slowly coming back. I just feel great, even when I'm not great because my faith has just been slowly growing. I've learnt lessons like "His love never fails" and "His love is unrelenting" and by now you should know which band has been such a major inspiration....

JESUS CULTURE

I love these guys!!! The worship is so heart-felt. The voices Kim Walker-Smith and Chris Quilala are awesome. Don't even get me started on Chris Quilala, the guy sings, plays guitar, plays the drums-multiple types of drums I might add...(umm, hello God, mind cutting the future hubz from that mold?) And Kim's voice, she can go really high, she can go really low, her ad-libs just help you totally lead you into worship. (Umm, God, if I were ever to be a worship leader could you help me do that?)

Apart from the singers, guys, the musicians are amazing. Jeff Kunde on the lead guitar...you just have to hear it.

So the next few blogs are generally going to be directed toward worship and these guys. I leave you with...
You're Love Never Fails....I love that first part where Chris sings and Kim's background is perfect not too overpowering.
